Steel Building Collapse: Duncombe, IA

Steel Building Collapse: Duncombe, IA

Agricultural building collapsed during construction due to a windstorm.  The building is a steel framed with “moment frames” (pre-engineered structural frames) at 20’ on center.  Purlins and girts were present when the failure occurred.  The wind reports from that day indicated 57 mph winds from the east.  The building collapsed, failing by both the frames bending and the anchor bolts being pulled out.
