Boutique 114 1st Ave N: Winterset, IA
The two-story brick retail building was built in 1872. The building had an exterior staircase that rose to a landing for the 2nd story entrance. The local newspaper resided on the second floor in the late 1880s. A fire damaged the building when the engine powering the printing press exploded in 1896. The building has housed numerous businesses, including a tailor shop, bank, piano store, jewelry store, and an abstract office.

ISSUE: Renovation plans began in 2022 to update the retail space and structural stabilization plans were needed. Prepared wall stabilization plans, which included installation of veneer beam support for both aesthetics and support. Extended stabilization plans to support fire damaged roof trusses, bank vault and masonry walls.
